Advice to anyone out and about during the festive season.

Before you head out the door.

    How are you getting home........
Book a Taxi BEFORE dont chance picking one up.
Never get into a Taxi that isnt licensed.
Dont travel / walk home alone, make sure the last person is home safely.

Do you need to take your.........
    Keys
    Wallet/ Purse
    Credit / Bank cards.
    Only take what you need.

Dont get so drunk that you dont know what you are doing.
Dont get into fights, walk away.

    Have fun and stay safe.
    Gardening ..... begins with daybreak
    and ends with backache

The furthest I will be going is daughter's house (10 minutes walk away) and I will be home well before midnight. The kids always insist that I carry my mobile phone and that I call them when I get home (talk about role reversal)

Some years ago we booked a cab to take us to Farnham and to collect at a restaurant after midnight, on New Year's Eve. They didn't show up to collect at midnight and didn't answer the phone either. We then tried several other taxis company's, but also no answer.

Fortunately we were still fit and young, so had to walk home. It wasn't too cold and not raining, so not so bad. It was just 2 of us walking, 1 male 1 female, but still felt vulnerable when passing any groups of lads who were walking the other way.

We got home alright, but since then I've never relied on a taxi picking me up on New Year's or any other festive time. So have either gone to friends parties and stayed over or celebrated at home.
