They can make all sorts of noises.
When my parents went away I used to go up and water their garden for them. One time I went up, opened the back door and surprised a American Tree Rat that had got very used to there being nobody around.
It shot up the neighbour's tree and made a hell of a racket at me, hissing, chattering, grunting, sqwarking, muttering, etc. - I'm sure that, if it had been in English, the air would have turned a distinct shade of blue ;-)Last edited by chris_m; 23-10-2017, 08:05 AM.Comment

I was working on a historical dovecot and the local squirrel used to come in the roof and down to the shop on the ground floor and help himself to the sweets that were on sale. He was most indignant when were inspecting the oak timbers for death watch beetles and trying to establish why the octagonal building was cracking at the corner. Standing in a triple ladder supported off a beam you are not sure is still solid is not to be when a mad squirrel wants to tell you off.
When we repaired the roof we found mummified remains of his ancestor in the eaves

I regularly watch the psycho squirrel that runs backwards and forwards several times a day out the front. There is no road access but he/she always stays on the path. It belts along like its batteries have be upgraded.I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. Thomas A. Edison
