Yippee son no 3 moves out tomorrow !!! Thought i would get my spare room back just had frantic call from my eldest sister and it looks like my 13 year old niece might be coming to live with us as her dad is neglecting her, her mum (my middle sister ) died in October difficult situation going to talk to councillor tomorrow cant let my sister down, we promised her we would look after her daughter no matter what.

Good luck, hope things work out for you and her. Must be a very difficult time for you all.

Looks like it was fate - your son vacates the room just as your neice has need of it. She's lucky to have you, well done. I can't imagine how I'd have felt in her position.

Thanks for your support it is a difficult time for us all my Dad died when I was 6 yrs old so I sort of know what she is going through but there is nothing like a mum and mine lived to the ripe old age of 92. Luckily we are a close family in support and distance. Just got to sort brother in law out unfortunatly he is in his 60's and was brought up that women do every thing in the home.

Jackie j you are a lovely lady. May your kindness came back to you 10 fold.

My niece isn't coming to live with me yet !!! We have decided to have a talk with her dad as a family and the counsellor, I think he just needs guidance after all its only 6 months since my sister died. We will be keeping a very close eye on whats going on. She is coming to stay for a few days as they break up from school for two weeks on Friday.
Its great to be able to let off steam here and have your support.

Your BIL must feel utter relief to know you are all there for him and his daughter- it would be sad to lose the two women in his life so suddenly.

Jackie, its a good job there are lovely people like you in the world - we hear of so many ratbags on here! Good luck with your niece, and your BIL. It cant be easy for either of them, but sounds as though you have a close knit family and a support network - and of course you have us too. take care.
