  • Spanish Slugs

It appears that I am now the proud guardian of these horrible little (not so) critters.

I spotted one yesterday, during the day about 4ft from the kitchen door.

How do you control these beasties?

Come on fess up who else has them?

This monster was over the field by me, but don't think it's a Spanish one - he wasn't sporting a matador suit ~ or indeed a flamenco dress or even clacking its maracas .........

Susie I reckon that's a youngster, also they come in slightly different colourations.

I've had the odd one or two or twenty this year to the extent I have 5mm green canes sharpened at one end with a pencil sharpener stuck in planters around the garden. Every time I see one I spear it and leave on a concrete slab, the birds soon shift the remains.

If you're growing sweet peas, the stems left after 'bud drop' also make good slug skewers

Think I have these bad boys - am ruthless, kill 'em all always pleased when I find eggs & leave them out for the birds...

Slugs seem to turn the most mild mannered gardener into a raging genocidal despot.
