Can anyone please explain to me why I'm getting spam about some new womens magazine (BodyFit)?

And the only way to stop getting this spam is :

"To unsubscribe, please Click Here and uncheck the 'Receive email from administrators' checkbox.
Please note, you will need to be logged in to your account to perform this feature."

I would have thought receiving mail from Administrators would be for important things and there would be a separate category for "receive mail about other things you may find of interest" (which in this case I'm definitely not).

And this claims to be a GYO newsletter

Have asked Admin for ya - I was a little perturbed to receive this today. I had a quick check, and yes, I am happy to report I am the wrong demographic for this magazine.

Not having a go at you HW, but I seriously doubt demographics had anything to do with it

My guess would be this is more "carpet bombing" than "tactical strike".

              Hello

This is my first post. Doubtless it will also be my last but I do hope that admin has the guts to leave this thread open as it is a serious comment on their Company Policy & I hope they take note

When I choose to accept this option, "From time to time, the administrators may want to send you email notices", I did not expect to be SPAMMED with direct email telling me about the launch of a new women's magazine by the publishing company who owns these forums. I recognise that admin need to contact forum members from time to time on forum-related business but this is a step too far.

I trust I am not the only one offended.

I get lots of Spam due to having several email accounts, I delete without opening, the title is (nearly) always obvious

                        Hello.

All I can say is I have been on the forum for about a year, and haven't been pestered with Spam. The powers that be are really good at sorting all that.

I hope that you don't disappear straight away, and stay and enjoy what I think is the best and friendliest gardening forum available.

Silly me I assumed the 'adminstrators' would only be emailing with something relevant to the forum itself - you know spam warnings, that sort of thing.

I have now unticked the box in my UserCP - Settings & Options/Edit options.
