  • Some advice needed please.

    Hi,

Richard has declared that we need a new greenhouse - no jokes please NOG!

His main beef is that he can't walk into the one we have without banging his head on the door frame and that he can't stand up in the thing.

So..... Have any of you got greenhouses suitable for 6 footers?
If so, what is the make please?

Also - would anyone have any advice on greenhouses in general - the maximum size I can get is determined by the space and is 6' x 10'

All help and advice gratefully received.

    Terry

You could build a low wall and then erect your greenhouse on top to give more height Terry.

Umm.. wouldn't he just trip over the sill?

I agree it is a good solution - just not sure he'll go for it!

hmmmm raise it up on railway sleepers to give more height, cheaper than buying one!

You would need to find a way to adapt the doorway but easier than trying to find a tall greenhouse

Ok - so to adapt the house I'd need to jack it up (or more likely just take out the glass and lift the frame) put in some form of 'base' then fix the frame down onto the base - that is easy enough - presumably cutting the base frame to allow entrance. I would then need to extend the door somehow. Now we are getting onto the realms of hard work!

SO the next question is..... How would I extend a glass and aluminium sliding door?

              Watching this one with interest.

Funnily enough I was only thinking the same thing this morning. Looked at a few greenhouses when we last visited Dobies, and there are a couple I can quite happily fit in without problem.

                hmmmmm .......
well i guess that sounds like a good opportunity to get richard sowing seeds .... prove he'll use the one you've got before letting him spend any money!
it's strange that all teh greenhouses i've seen seem to be the same height - half as high again would be handy for more tiers on the staging

I'd buy a cheaper greehouse and duck going through the door....

But having a high sided greenhouse does have the advantage of more shelving space.
