  • So disappointed

OH went out and bought the christmas tree on Friday and today we got it in it's stand and took the netting off.
It's horrid! They have apparently stopped stocking the type we usually have so he bought a nordic pine instead.
The shape is uneven and the branches stick straight up in the air!
I have no idea where to begin to decorate it and frankly I'm too depressed by it to try at the moment.
It's really knocked the christmas spirit out of me.

Having done a mystery shop at * a while back; Nordic Firs DO stick straight up and won't fall down much, even with baubles on them.

They are used mainly for small spaces.

I wasn't impressed [not that I would buy one but you have to pretend when MSing].

Don't let the shape put you off Incy.
When you have all the lights and decorations of it will look a lot better.
Its only one part of Christmas.
Put on some Christmas music while you are decorating and it will get you in the mood.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Hi Incy - maybe it will be more fun for kitties to climb?
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

My Dad always has 2 Christmas trees at his, one near the front door for visitors to see, and one larger one in the sittting room at the back of the house for the presents.
Perhaps you could get another one and use this one in a smaller space.

Thanks guys. I tried putting the lights on and have now been reduced to tears. It is really hideous. I think I'm going to have to go out tomorrow and see if I can find somewhere that stocks proper christmas trees.
I know it's only one part of Christmas but it has always been a really important part to me. I'm really not sure I can look at that thing and feel christmassy. It wouldn't be so bad if it had a decent even shape but no matter which way I turn it there's always flat sections or really visible gaps.

Turn it upside down? Then the branches will stick the right way
I am sure you are the only one who doesn't like it, everyone else will think it's smashing when it's decorated. X

throw enough tinsel at it, and you won't even see the branches

Hang a sign round it saying "I can't help the way I look. Please love me for what I am"

                      Thanks Guys,
you've really cheered me up. I will throw loads of tinsel at it. ( It has to be thrown the branches don't lend themselves to hanging it) and if it still looks awful I'll get my boy to help me make a sign

Far tinsel will hide a multitude of sins. You will make it look lovely I'm sure.

Even better; hide the young 'un's sweetie treats in there 'within my branches are my delights' or something like it.....for my OD's DD's birthday one year we made - sorry, I made cards with the location of her pressies on the back......and she had to play monopoly to get each card [they were piled in with chance] so you could make Jack's cards and hide them in the tree [may as well take advantage of the close knit branches eh?].

Get really long strands of tinsel Incy, so that you can "drape and dip it down" between each branch. If you do this all the way from the bottom to top, it will widen the tree and you will not notice that the branches stick up. Hope the explanation is clear enough. If you also tie long strands of lametta to your baubles you can get them into a good position between the gaps. I'd love to come and show you what I mean, but I'm working tomorrow!
