  • And so it begins.......

Major house renovations suddenly under-way. Got home this evening and the enormous, room-dominating, 7o's style-y stone fireplace is a heap of rubble in the court-yard and Mr Teez is all tired but triumphant.
    Wallpaper is coming off tomorrow.
    We have to;
    Replace central heating system.
    Replace Kitchen
    Replace bathroom.
Create fourth bedroom and en suite
    Remove airing cupboard.
Redecorate and re floor through out

That which does not kill us makes us stronger......
Any tips on staying sane amongst the ruin of what was my home?

Try to keep one room as a sanctuary, while all hell breaks out around you. Somewhere to retreat to at the end of the day - preferably with all you need in it to keep you sane ^^^^^ and a bottle or two!

been there done that, got the tea shirtS,there will be times when you say,i am mad,and it will get you down at times, take time out,a nice relax in a bath,it's amazing how you manage,it becomes a challenge as to how resousfull you can get,if possible, try not to work at things day and night, have the end results in your mind,i end up 2 paces ahead in my my planning, instead of whats now,i even find other additions to the planned work to,tell us how things are going as you progress,

Try to finnish one project at a time, that will give you something to admire and help you strive to complete the next part. As VC says it you can keep on room fairly normal that will certainly help.

Any plumbing, heating questions I can help with as always just give me a nudge. But not tonight as I am of for my dram.

            Ah- home from home!!!!

We're in the midst of a long range house renovation ...all the above- plus somewhere warm to retreat to. You can get chilled to the bone at times.
            - piccies help too, just so you get to be reminded what it's all about.

Arrange for frequent visits from family & friends to aid you in moments of need You could ensure their appearance at appropriate times by having "themed" parties

                      Bring a hammer party
                      Bring a shovel party
                      Bring a paintbrush party

As Nicos said ^^^ take lots of piccies now, before you start, and, at every stage of the work, to show progress. When its all done, it gives you a really good feeling to be able to see how much you've achieved. Its easy to forget how things were.
I only needed a new roof - it turned into a complete rebuild - and was taken back to a shell Be prepared for things to change as work progresses

Go to family, friends, local leisure centre for showers.
That what we did when our house was renovated.
Fond memories of living in one room with the kettle, microwave and tv.
Had to do the washing up in the toilet
Washing clothes at the laundrette meeting wonderful people
                          Those were the days.
