  • Slightly sport related, but only slightly.

I know there aren't many huge sports fans on the Vine, but on a purely human level, I thought that the Japanese women winning the football world cup last night must have been fantastic news for a country thats really been battered over the last year or so.
Even if you dont "get" sport most people concede that there is an intangible "something" that lifts people and bonds people in a way that most things dont when your country's sports team is doing well.
Congrats to the Japanese ladies and I really hope that it brings good news and smiles to the Japanese nation, even if only in the short term, they really need it.

Darren Clarke will have provided a similar fillip for Northern Ireland after winning the golf at the weekend.

You're havin a laff? They've had 3 of the last 6 major winners or something of that ilk. They're just getting greedy.

You're right of course, and I thought Clarkey winning was just fantastic. One of the nicest blokes in golf it is said by those in the know, and clearly overcame great personal tragedy as well. Huzzah!!

Well much as I 'ate sport, you two are right, it must lift the spirits of those nations. Doesn't do a thing for me, but then I'm saturated in sport most of the time.
