now that is a scary thought!!

Madmax and I used to use skype to keep in touch when he was working away from home but we don't bother with it now he is at home.

We use it all the time especially my wife who talks to her family in Slovakia, we use the webcam rather than skype phone makes it better to see someones face as well.

We have skype with a webcam too. We used to use it when my folks called weekly to speak to the children. I got sick of the ritual 'can you see me' 'I can't hear you' so we have turned it all off!
It is useful though if you are using it with someone with a bit of knowhow.

We had it on this laptop, but I keep getting messages from SexyGirl etc. I don't trust it.

I use Skype all the time, as my family is Canadian and my husband's in Australian. You don't need to be technical wizards, we both managed to get our parents set up on it. With webcams too, so they can see their granddaughter and she can see them.

If you keep getting calls or texts from strangers, you might need to bump up your privacy settings, that's all.

As for a conference call, I would need at least half an hour's warning each time - you can see too much of the mess and chaos of our house behind me in the webcam! Haha (not really kidding)

I use it all the time, family all abroad. we do conference call on it too sometimes. I know what you mean about the warning to get the place looking good but for me the problem is more to do with making sure i look decent before answering with the webcam on!!!

I use msn messenger or Yahoo with my father who does not seem to have got the hang of computers fully. I'm trying to call him now but goodness knows what he is doing at the other end!

Er, I mean why isn't he answering.

I have to say, OH is not backward at techie stuff and I always had Aranthos (self-confessed geek) at this end and we never got a good line. The I can't hear you was an oft experienced one and then the wonderful sound of dalek speak. Never found out if it was the internet connection at our end or Madmax's end but it used to drive me mad - never got a really good chat for very long.

*also used to drive the dog nuts as he could hear his 'hero' but couldn't find him in the house.
