Is this site really slow?

When I asked the Mod Seahorse about this, last night, she said we're still getting spam attacks, but the ISP blocking has to be done by the website admin...

yep, i've been having problems as well.....gave up this morning in the end cos it wasnt opening.

they will get bored eventually, and hopefully web admin are in touch with the hosting provider. I have seen worse. If it was a DOS attack the site would be down, seems like a high traffic spam problem to me, but don't quote me, cos i can't see the traffic stats

It has been slowing down for the last 2 weeks perhaps we have a speed crunch as against a credit crunch

I feel for the admins to be honest, I have had to disable one of my boards for the last month to try and combat the spam attacks, even with admin approved membership which is a pain, they still get through, I have a mod applied now so that i can delet membership by the page rather than singley and i have to delete at least 3 pages of spam memmebrs a week, means i have to memorise who are real members, even with all the bells and whistles like having to type in the graphic numbers to apply, we get hundreds.

the problem used to be 'bots' those you can guard against with simple measures, what we didn't expect was people being paid to physically sit there and apply normally, then spam!! tis a mad world.

if admin have to approve each membership the workload is massive, and you still can't tell if they are spammers until they post, you used to be able to pretty much tell by the user name, having nothing to do with reality, now its so much harder cos they use 'real' user names.

at this point I would like to offer my services if they are needed, i doubt they are, but it's a genuine offer, i know my way round most forum software, and have the time to sit there pruning out old memberships that haven't posted. The only way to beat them is to delete them faster than they can post

Mines slow too. why is the time of post showing wrong times it is only 4.15 pm but glutton4's is showing 5.13pm

I think the moderators are really up against it.

Can we not just have these spammers summarily shot?
