    Should I be ashamed

    Ok, I am one of those naughty multiple allotment holders (4) and need quite a few seeds to keep going but after a sort out today I was ashamed I could only root out a few packets of seeds to give away to newbie plot holders on my site.

    DESPITE HAVING 4 X 9 LITRE BOXES FULL OF THEM inc

    33 varieties of tomato
    31 of chillies
    12 of carrot
    more varieties of brassicas than I could eat in 5 years
    Flowers, oh so many flowers
    5 swede (why)
    17 pea
    22 climbing bean

    plus rafts of trial varieties and misc others.

    Should I be ashamed or just consider myself very well organised?

        You should be ashamed for not giving more away - because you then have the opportunity to get more different seeds in!

          If you are anywhere near Melton Market (Tuesdays) there is a guy who sells in date seeds from most suppliers for 10 packets a pound.

          Well, I just cant resist, then there are self saved, swapped (Flum mum, pm me), given and trials to trial. I will root out a few more,................promise.

              Whilst not wishing to sound pompous - I am amazed that you have four allotments as you cannot possibly eat all of the produce that you grow if you manage them properly. In this time of 'credit crunch' I am surprised that the local Council (or whomever runs the allotment) lets you have four plots. I have half a plot and this has kept myself, partner and parents well stocked with veg and have had enough runner beans to give to neighbours, friends, hairdresser and basically whoever wanted the things.

              With regard to the mass of seeds that you have, you cannot possibly sow all these within their best 'sow by date'.

                As for the Seed Hoarding.... Well, I'm shocked! Surely the more you give away, the more you get to buy later?!

                Must get on with sorting mine out... Now I'm trying to fill 3 lotties, I'm sure I must need some more!

                  a thousand lashes for the PLW One unless he tells us how he manages 4 - four - FOUR plots AND hold down a day job AND hold down a wife - erm, no scratch that last one ...AND hold down a household.....
