  • Shakes = bacon :(

Normally I cross train daily for between 30 to 50 mins, I feel like I have done something but it doesn't cause me any problems.

Today, I just about managed 30 mins, but was left shaking and feeling sick and ready to drop. I felt that I needed food (I doubt I did - but anyway...) and ended up with a bacon and marmite sarnie (one slice with butter) and a packet of Quavers.

Good grief! What was all that about?

You'd guess that wouldn't you, although I'd had porridge for breakfast, apple for snack and soup and a chunk of bread for lunch - lunch was one hour prior to training.

      Maybe I'm getting old

Someone mentioned to me 'perhaps your body needed salt, cos all those things are salty' - that never occured to me, I don't use salt in cooking or on my food.

          Hum - food for thought

Salt helps to stop the body from dehydrating when getting a sweat on .......

Mrs BM recently took up running & found she had migraine type headaches after each run. It turns out she was dehydrated. Now she takes rehydration salts (Diarrohea remedy) after every run & has not had a headache since. Boots own brand.

Thanks BM - that sounds like a plan as I too get headaches - or I could munch on family sized bags of crisps

Your body was telling you you needed salt.

                    Why do we need salt?

                      Salt eh!

I would never have assumed that as we are told we all take too much of the stuff - I cut it out totally a few years back and as I cook 'from scratch' (strange term innit) I guess I don't have that much hidden salt.

So, boiled egg and salty toast it is then

I think it is strange we are advised carte blanc to do (or not to do) anything. Each of our metabolism is unique. I let my belly be my guide.

I do too (usually) BG and with all the training I'm doing I thought I'd got it sorted with enough food at the right time and enough water to ensure no more shakes during/following exercise.

So yesterday's was a shock and a bit upsetting as I was thinking maybe I'm just a wimp - but I know that's not really true.

Tonight I'm out for a curry with Snowdrop and approx 69 other 'lads' so I doubt there will be a salt deficiency going on there

Just don't overload on the lager to wash the curry down Piskie or you'll undo all that good work on the cross-trainer!
