    Bloomin' visitors!

My cousin and his wife and five children (under 10) arrived this afternoon. In order to give them privacy, we've stuffed all of the teens and young people dormitory style in attic room. This means that my cousin and his wife get a double bed, whilst their four older children sleep above them on the mezzanine platform the BH built for our two younger sons. The baby goes in his travel cot.

Ok so far, until the cousin's wife demands that they need a room to themselves, why should they have to share with their children? Because, dear, you do. You must. I have other visitors coming, and sleeping arrangements were explained to you when you asked to come and stay. Three of my visitors are pensioners and the BH, who's disabled, and I gave up our bed for two of them. Needs must! (and, sweet as they are, they are your children)

Anyway, long story short, they stormed off home. I'm sorry their holiday hotel wasn't up to their liking.......not!! I feel sorry for the little cousins though, as they love to spend time with their big cousins.

Looking forward to extra peace and quiet and more dinner all round this evening!

Bugger I read the title & thought it was the start of the panto, mind you that would have made Snow White a bit solitary

In the '70's we had a saying amongst us "bikers" (in the pub) that sums this up nicely .................

What a cheek and what a shame for the children. Sometimes you just can't do enough to please some people, especially family. Enjoy your other guests, sounds like they'll be easier anyway!

Blimey, Jules! Could they have been any ruder or more ungrateful? Sounds like you're well rid! I find it hard to fathom how people can be so bad mannered.
Hope you have a wonderful Christmas - without them!!!

Those sleeping arrangements sound fine to me Jules but it does sound like they wanted the kids taken off their hands during the visit.

            Enjoy your other visitors

I remember when we were kids and my Aunt and Uncle came to stay with us. There were four adults and seven children in a standard 3 bedroom council house. Mum and Dad used to sleep downstairs, Aunt and Uncle had their room, and we kids shared beds. Four girls in a double bed in my room, and three boys in bunk beds in my brother's room. We loved it.

All the more Clootie and Glenmorangie icecream for those who deserve it and will appreciate the effort that has gone into it- not those ungrateful whingers who probably would have turned their noses up at that too.

Had a lovely dinner, and I didn't wash a single pot afterwards! We haven't missed them, tell a lie - we missed the children, who are lovely kids. I do wonder if there is more behind this than just a break from the children. After all, Christmas is about children and family and being together. The BH thinks they may not be getting on too well and possibly need some privacy. I'll speak to my cousin and ask a few questions tomorrow.

The big kids are all messing about on the games console, and catching up with each other. It's a bit manic here, so sneaking out for five minutes peace is nice.

Finally, at long last, I feel festive......
