  • With September in mind

any thoughts on how I get through my first day at college and has anyone else sat the RHS 2 course/exam?

Oh yes - what should I wear? Should I polish my shoes? Wayne has told me to ensure apple for teacher so we have that covered off

Make sure you have one of those Oxford Maths sets. Not sure if anyone still uses them, but I always felt the need to have one. That and HB pencils (with a couple of 2B's for the odd sketch).

          Take some Setlers/Gaviscon/Rennie
          Bottle o'water
Smile at people (but not so much that they think you're a loon who should be avoided in the canteen)
Make sure your phone is fully charged - so you can chat to SD at lunch and tell him everyfing's cool bananas.

Sounds exciting - I've never studied anything I've enjoyed (well, apart from art at college), I bet you're quite excited really.

You'll be fine, just be yourself and people will warm to you - that much I guarantee!

I have taught adults and always find it much more pleasant than teaching children! I have also been on the other end and did a couple of evening classes while on maternity and that was good too. I made some friends and such like. You will be fine - just enjoy it and don't be afraid to ask as many questions as you like!

don't forget your pencil case rubber and some paper, and make sure you wee before going to class, and don't turn up late or you'll have to sit in the losers corner with sweaty betty that stinks of wee that no one else would sit next to. h'mmmm you have the apple covered, (small tip, don't take a large cucumber for the teacher)
oh and take some drawing pins, put them spike up on the desk, so if you fall asleep your head will fall on the pins and you will be wide awake for a bit.

above all enjoy, cos if it's not fun, theres no point doing it

                        you'll do great

Don't worry Piskie. I did a degree as a mature student and really worried that all those brilliant kids would be out there shining like stars and I would be trailing in the mud behind them looking like an idiot. Ha Ha HA. A bit of experience and a minimum of application to work goes a very long way. You'll be streets in front of them.
Just relax and enjoy. You'll get on great.
Wear what you feel comfortable and relaxed in. There's no rules and you'll see it all.
                          Happy days.

What a great opportunity Piskie - I'm sure it will be FANTASTIC! Am humming and havering about leaving work myself to do a textile course at the college here. It is such a big step ........ perhaps next year.

Just be yourself! Have a ball (or three...) and smile. That doesn't mean grinning like an idiot, as then you WILL end up next to Sweaty Betty!
