  • Seeds for 2012....

    .......we have limited planting space for extra things (space is set aside for growbags, tubs etc with salad, tomatoes, beans, soft fruits) we want to plant.

    This year's 'extras' are chosen to help our stir-fry addiction - we got the Wagamama Noodle book for Christmas - and include;

    French Breakfast Radishes (French Grapes, do they really eat radish for breakfast in France, and if so, how do they eat them? If I eat radish for impromptu breakfast it's on my way around the garden at dawn in my nighty in the Summer)

    Red Samurai Carrots, to add colour to noodle dishes.

    French Beans Cosse Violet, ditto.

    Thai Basil, for extra flavour and Thai based recipes.

    And then some yellow Alpine Strawberries because I love them, and some Kong F1 Monster Sunflowers for fun!

    Anyone planting anything unusual?

    Jules

    I said I wouldn't, but I'm going to grow chick peas again this year. I feel optimistic (plus, I have 12 children who can be coerced into shelling them )

          I had my first success this winter, growing Kohl Rabi. I had this packet of seeds for three years and failed the first two years to even get it to germinate! - I guess it really was third time lucky! I wasnt going to bother again and really just wasted the seed into a spare drill in the end of the brassica bed and they must have liked the rough treatment! I tried the first one stir fried and was glad it was large cos whilst it was cooking I tried a stick raw and was hooked - am amazed Mr D actualy ended up with any! LOL So guess what was top of my shopping list!

              Is that 12 children who can be coerced and the rest of the children can't be coerced?
              Strange word - coerced - hard to spell - is there a negative form?)
              Are you growing the chickpeas from the supermarket? Sounds interesting!

                    Will have to ask her where she gets her seeds from!
