Mine ones started sprouting-they are kept under the stairs in the dark and cool but frost free conditions-I'm trying to use the smallish ones from this year as seed ones next year -
I'm going to use some of the smaller potatoes from this years crop I've saved enough for 120 plants.
The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

2 x 2kg packs for £6
There were about 12 varieties to choose from.
I can't get British spuds in France - so was thrilled to find them so early.
They'll take some careful looking after so that they don't chit too vigerously - or frost- between now and planting though!

Just remembered I read somewhere on the Vine-putting an apple between your seed spuds should slow them sprouting.Away to chuck one into mine!Comment

I agree that it is VERY early as far as I am concerned.
Esp with the weather being so cold.
I have my fingers crossed that the seed potatoes have been stored OK at B&Q so the frost hasn't got to them
. Time will tell though.
Still- worth the risk for me- as these are luxury products- to be handled with care and lovingly nurtured!

I bought some for the Xmas table from the Asda special range.
Variety Marabel - described as buttery - and that they are - grown Suffolk by Albert Bartlett. Same people who developed the Rooster I believe.
They were so lovely I'm going to save a few to grow this year as the spud is probably my fave veg in all its forms.
I did my roasties this year according to the 'mad magician' of the kitchen Heston and they were superb - even if I say so myself!
Strongly recommended for taste and consistency - think it will make everything from roast to waxy news - very versatile.Comment

Coreopsis, great user name, one of my favourite flowers. I was brought up close to Grantown on spey which isn't that far from Inverness. My dad (and aren't dad's just the very best of authorities) always planted his spuds on 20th April. Do have a go with the names of the french spuds.
