  • Sainsbury's till receipts?

Our local Sainsburys always asks if you want a till recept. We have to ask they say........paper savings and all that.........b*ll*cks!!!!!!!

Loads of people say "No its ok" and walk away. I have done on occasions myself if I only get a few bits and pieces.

I asked for a till receipt today and was double charged on an item............hotfoot back to shop for a refund.

I WILL ALWAYS ASK FOR A RECEIPT IN THE FUTURE!

I always add as I go round and if the total they get is not the same as mine I check the receipt. It's amazing how often they make mistakes.
The problem with rounded personalities is they don't tesselate.

I always ask for a receipt at the Cash Machine too. Unfortunately, we seem to need to prove our innocence nowadays, as 'our word' doesn't seem to be the bond it once was.

Blimey, I sound like a miserable old git!

Anyway, I can say, hand on heart, that I have planted more trees than will be needed to supply the paper my receipts use!

I would always want a receipt, they go into my compost when I've checked them anyway. Sainsburys obviously don't trust the public to recycle.

I keep all my receipts - in the vain hope I can keep a check on my spending!

The only time I'm asked if I want a receipt in Sainsburys is when I've bought petrol, and I'm asked if I want a VAT receipt. Otherwise, in the supermarket I automatically get a receipt.

I've never had any problem with Tesco, Sainsburys or NETTO. Any query has been dealt with fairly.

The only supermarket that I would suggest you check your receipt before you leave the building is Morrissons. They charged me £9.99 for something that was 99p. When I went back to query it they were 'not prepared to believe me'. I've never been in one of their stores since.

I keep all my receipts as very occasionally himself goes into one and wants to know where all the money goes, and then I can flourish them ( obviously some of them are hidden)

Ah so...........it is only this rogue Sainsbury's branch of ours that doesn't automatically give you a receipt? I would have thought that a national supermarket should have a policy for all branches?

Wouldn't surprise me if the next step for supermarkets to get more money out of us was to discourage receipts so that we can't spot all the mistakes on the "offers".

I also automatically get a till receipt from the superstores, and have never been asked. I dont buy tesco or sainsburys diesel cos i usually find it cheaper at other stations.

Snadger, is your Sainsburys a 'Local' or did you make your purchases at the tobacco kiosk? Main tills and self serve checkouts autmatically give receipts but the kiosk doesn't because of the number of receipts that were just dropped on the floor as people left the till. Sainsburys Locals may be set up differently too.
I work in the customer service desk in a big Sainsburys and generally give customers the benefit of the doubt, we are only human and we have hundreds of offers at any one time and things do get missed. Customers are often suprised when I explain they need a receipt to bring back items where they have changed their mind on the purchase.

Yes its a 'local' Suky. Still can't see why that makes a difference though?

I would ask to speak to someone in authority, at the store - it could be that the person is pilfering...

But then, I do have a suspicious mind...

Sounds a little iffy to me too.

On a similar note, the other day when I was in Asda the couple in front had cash back coupons from their previous shop...I've not yet tried it as I didn't get much that day but apparently there's a serial number at the bottom of their reciepts that you can plug into the computer when you get home and it's compared to other supermarkets...you get refunded any difference you paid over if that makes sense.
