I cant remember all of it and someone else might know more about it than me, this memo was put up on the notice board at work.
A young woman stopped to get petrol and luckily for her the cashier at the petrol station told her not to return to her car as a man had got into the back of it and she had called the police. It turned out that there is a gang working places where women inparticular leave the car unlocked and unattended ie at petrol stations they are then kidnapped and told to drive somewhere they are then rapped by a gang of men leaving the woman pratically dead.
As I said there was a lot more but it was a warning not to leave cars unlocked even for a short period of time, not to return to the car if you suspect anything.
Prehaps someone on here has also heard of this and can enlighten more.
    Stay safe ladies.

This was an urban myth going around when I drove a car, 18 years ago.

It's good general advice though, not to leave your car (or house) unlocked.

      Two stories for you,

1.) The father of my best friend, left his car unlocked to go into a local chinese restaurant to pick up a takeaway. He was in there a max of two minutes, when he went back outside it had been stolen, along with his golf clubs which were in the boot. (this was in a rural community town of approx 5,000.)

2.) A rep that visits my shop, had his car stolen from his driveway, he had got out of his car, opened the boot got some shopping bags out of the back, and opened his front door, leaving the keys in the lock of the front door. He went into the kitchen, and returned to get more bags, only to see his car heading off down the road swiftly.

The truth of the matter is this, whether you are a woman or a man, if you leave your vehicle you should lock it, no matter what the circumstances. If you think you are safe you are not, if you think would my insurance cover me for this and the answer is no, then don't do it.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

Jackie J. Please take it down, it is obviously a chain/hoax intended to scare us women into staying indoors (where we belong).
I think it was quite irresponsible of the person who allowed it to be put up in the first place without checking the facts.

Although I agree that it's "urban~myth" "hoax",whatever you want to call it~I still think it's wise to be sensible & lock~up! I can remember a similar story going round when I 1st started to drive & it scared the s*** out of me~I used to be scared to look in the rear view mirror "just in case"!I'd also always lock my doors & roll up windows if I had to stop at traffic lights at night!!*paranoid?Me?!*
Also having had the pleasure of living in Ipswich&having a genuine reason to fear going out a year &1/2 ago I'd agree that it's a little irresponsible for anyone to be passing round scare stories if they're not genuine~if it's true you'd have seen it on the news not office noticeboard!

my car hasn't locked for the past 3 years since my central locking stopped working. I haven't had any breakin's or thefts or anything like it but of course I don't leave anything out in my car just in case. I know thefts happen (happened to me a few years ago which is why I now never leave anything out in open view...they smashed my window and made off with a carrier bag with a pair of dancing shoes in it!) but its good to have a bit of perspective...
