  • Roughing it........

Central heating boiler kaput! I come from a generation who had coal fires,B&W tellies and was used to scraping ice off the windows (inside)
Lately, until the boiler is replaced we've had to rough it. No hot water, no central heatiing and instead of a coal fire a small electric jobbie. AND I'M LOVING IT!!!!!!!

I've always slept with the bedroom window open and when I was a kid me Ma used to chuck me dads top coat on the bed for extra warmth on cold nights.
Now I've got TWO duvets and I'm sleeping like a log and am as warm as toast.

Missus on other hand who was from the 'powsh' side of town with colour tellies and central heating is hating it!

Boiler should be installed and up and running by tomoz so she'll no longer have to do the dishes with a kettle full of hot water, I'll be able to have a hot bath (although cold half body washes in the morning are quite invigorating) and the dog, budgies and hamster can go back to their original postions rather than in the same room as the fire.
I'll no longer have to sit in the bedroom on the pooter in me long johns either!

Sounds normal to me :P The only hot water we have is from the shower or the kettle and we have a convector heater in the livingroom and boys room.

The difference though is we chose it. There is an immersion heater that we don't use, just seemed a waste when we have a dishwasher etc and we also have electric storage heating which is a nightmare, heat when you don't want it and cold when you could do with a heat.

I love the longjohn look Think I wear more clothes inside the house than out.
