  • RHS Certificate L2

    Hello,

What do you guys and gals think of the RHS Certificate Level 2 as a way of getting a 'foot in the door' of horticulture? I'm a simple man, so I'd love to work in a nursery.

    Is this suitable?

I did think about the HND/BSc route but was worried that this would make 'over qualified' for the entry level jobs. Hence, I plan to start 'at the bottom' and work my way up.

I'm 28, by the way, with limited work experience (non in hort).

Will my practical work on my allotment count in my favour as 'experience'?

I put up a similar thread last week. I do know that you don't need ANY experience, to the the COH, nor do you need to do them in order. My local adult ed centre is doing Module 2 this year, Module 1 next.

So, your lottie work won't count as experience (I assume you're thinking of entry requirements?), but you don't need it! It's a very theory-based course and can also be done correspondence (but I'm a bit put off by this, as I think I'll not do the work required!).
