  • Retiring - so soon?

Jack Yaffe is retiring and handing his shop over to his daughter in law - lazy beggar. There's just no work ethic left in this country is there?

Couldn't open your link SS, but get the general gist. That's some work ethic and it makes me wonder how old the daughter in law will be when she retires!

There is a 'young' lady on checkouts at the Sainsburys where I work and she will be 90 on St Valentines day! She still does 3 days a week, four hours a day and the customers love her (so do we).

I hope he doesn't retire too thoroughly (sounds like he doesn't plan to) because people sometimes do die of retiring!

There's a shop just like this round the corner from me. It's called 'So Many Things'. It's like Alladin's Cave.

I think the Colour Box in Aberdeen was the exact opposite of this place. Notorious for stocking everything but never being able to find it (or price it ahead of your inquiry about how much it cost), the staff were usually schoolkids ! (The boss would appear to quote a price when something you wanted was found. )
