    Regrets

    Sorry people, but I don't think I will be appearing here any more. I honestly feel the soul has left the forum. I have had two threads removed as being possibly offensive to some, when the content was anything but offensive, or even, I have to say, objectionable. My understanding of a general chat thread, was that it was just that, general chat. Also we are all reasoning, intelligent, and tolerant adults who have the ability to realise what we want to say, and to be aware of any possible objection to that.

    I am not here to insult anybody, and no insult is intended or implied, but when the 'Political Correctness Police' take over, in my experience it has all too often sounded the death knell.

    There are those who have my email address, and I will be more than happy if anyone wishes to keep contact with me. I have, up til now, thoroughly enjoyed my time here and sincerely wish every one well in health and gardening.

    And it's also a family forum.

    Nothing would have been removed without careful thought; and IIRC - both threads had questionable content.

      Your threads both promoted drink-driving as something to look back fondly and laugh at. There are members who have been directly affected by this issue, who were less than amused, quite apart from the fact that we have minors as members of the forum.

      I'm sorry Zebedee, that you feel the need to depart for such a reason. Lots of people have had threads removed for reasons that they don't necessarily agree with, but have accepted it and carried on.

          Yep! while you (or I) may continue to see the funny side of just how stupid we were years ago (usually more years than we wish to admit) at the very least we should colour such reminiscences fairly strongly with regret for the potential harm it could have done!
          Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

                Sorry, Zebedee, to hear your news, but you do really need to grow a thicker skin!

                I, too, have been reprimanded for posting 'inappropriate content' recently. It never occurred to me that it would cause trouble, until I was told. I apologised and moved on...

                          I have not seen these posts, so cant comment on their content. But if as has been said it suggests fondness for the fun of drink/driving. Then i suggest said poster come and work with me for a day!!
                          if they have the stomach for the aftermath of such fun!!!!

                          Anyone caught with even a hint of drink on their breath, attemting to get in a car, should be bannend for life, car confiscated, and thrown in jail for 10 years!! Thats just my opinion.

                            Well- that was the complaint.... a few Grapes have been 'exposed' to the results of drunk driving....with the results of deaths of either pedestrians/driver/passengers.

                            I'm sure zebedee wasn't condoning drink/driving....attitudes have drastically changed over the years..I think it was meant to be an innocent comment on what was regarded as fun in our youth.

                            20 yrs from now our kids will probably be utterly appalled at how much alcohol 'we' drink/ pollute the planet etc etc.
                            Things change....but death by alcohol is certainly a serious issue now.
