  • Regata Week

This week is Shaldon regata week and we are supposed to be on the beach.
Its cold its raining and it feels like November.
Yesterday my niece and nephew ( brother and sister 35 plus ) rowed from Babacombe around the ness to Shaldon in the annual race. 53 boats took part the small boats are towed to the starting point then they race back its a spectacular site as the big boats come back with them. It was cold and the rain just about held off. All ages take part. It is supposed to be the Dawlish to Shaldon race but the weather conditions meant the change of venue
The rest of the week is taken up with lots of things for kids to do swimming, rounders, beach volley ball, rowing races and the like.
It wont be much fun if the weather doesnt improve.
Please can we have some sun.

The sun came out big time yesterday and although I put factor 40 sun cream on I got burnt, a mixture of sun and salt air.
Down there again today to watch the sailing and rowing. Flowers came third again in the 100 meter swim and got another medal.
There are kids as young as six rowing on the river even with a fast outgoing tide, I dont know how they do it. Lots of saftey boats on the water and all children must wear life jackets.
