    Recycle from charity shops

    A friend of mine visits loads of charity shops searching for mens silk ties. She washes these, unpicks the stitching and then uses the fabric to make small patchwork animals.

    Another friend picks up old pictures to use the frames for a large family portrait area in her hallway.

    I often search for old garden tools and have some displayed on the side of my shed.

    I also look for childrens play animals for a farm/zoo collection for my granddaughter.
    What do others search for in charity shops?

    Net curtains for use as plant mesh - but can't get them, none of the charity shops seem to have them anymore.

          Mainly books for me, although I once chose some good cotton shirts to make a double bed sized patchwork quilt that was then raffled for charity. Double charity whammy!

            I buy anything thats my fancy really best bargains lately have been a Kenwood chef bowl for 50p, Levi messenger bag £2, then a stainless steel cafetiere £1 thats perfect to take camping.
            Location....East Midlands.

              I keep searching for a salad spinner - to dry off all of the lovely salad that I am picking. they are so expensive new, so in the meantime useing a teatowel that I have made into a drawstring bag and shaking, lol

                I bought mine from Sainsbugs for either 99p or £1.99 (something like that), it was an absolute bargain and perfectly serviceable.

                  I had only seen salad spinners at TK Max for £20. Charity shops are a much better bargain - when I can find one. Also been looking for demijohns.

                    I bought a black wool jacket for a nightout. It cost me a £5 and sold it to my posh sister for £80.... bargain. Apparently it was very vintage...

                      I use a net delicates netting washbag from morrisons 49p, from memory. (note - do not let go of the bag when whirling it round your head in the garden to spin the salad leaves, as this can cause embarrassment when you have to knock the neighbour's door & say 'can I have my salad back, please?')

                          Most things I own have come from charity shops! (It's me Northern roots ). I partcularly like to collect books (cooking and gardening) but if, like me, you're lucky enough to have the leisure time to browse often and aren't in a hurry to find something 'yesterday', you can pick up almost anything. Seems like a winner all round - entertainment + bargain for me and money for good causes!

                            I have a long list of things that I am always looking for but I am currently mostly looking for one of those all in one veg choppers.
