  • Reasons to be cheerful.....................

For all of you who arent as old as me - its the song title by Ian Drury.....but actually, following on from the happy threads we've had over the past few days, I wanted to add my own.

My reasons for being cheerful today are:

Allotment Lady home from hospital and on the mend.
    Dexter dogs leg is better.
Ive spent a happy morning on my lottie sowing tatties, onions etc.
My OH built me a new compost bin this afternoon.
Henry the MG is booked in for his MOT on Tuesday at work - fingers, arms, legs and eyes crossed he passes!

What are your reasons to be cheerful today?

They are certainly good reasons to be cheerfull DexterDog. I am cheerfull because the weather was lovely today and despite OH suffering from a virus and not being able to join in I did enjoy it. I raked my lawn, I planted potatoes and repotted a herb and then spent lots of time in the kitchen (usually OH's domain) - I have a beef stew almost ready in the slow cooker and I also made a pepper and tomato soup. I even made my salad for tomorrow's lunch and whilst I was there I played my music LOUD and sang along.. great fun. OH seems to be getting better though is still not eating - I think he'll be fine by tomorrow. I hope whatever he has hasn't passed on to me!

Well I actually punched the air when I knew AL was coming out of hospital
      DD is always a treasure
All the hard work is starting to showing the garden

This is a simple one but one that I think is most Important!
My family and I are in reasonable health, we have food on the table and a roof over our heads - these three things are reason enough to celebrate!

Well... I found two shrubs in my "back garden" that I didn't think had survived the winter and I now have a pretty passable garden area with some new heathers and lavenders.

My health is pretty good (as far as I know) and my lovely Mummy is staying with us for as long as she wants.

My Husband has man flu but is being very aaard abut it and my two dogs are sleeping peacefully.

Just need Ray to win dancing on ice and I'll be a happy bunny

Part 1 - My household is being better run now than it was before I got broken - Yay! for my efficient OH

Part 2 - My dad's mystery illness is a mendable under-active thyroid, not the return of something much nastier

Part 3 - My 2nd lot of tomato seedlings started popping up this morning, and OH has the put the other tray in the greenhouse for me so they have room to grow

Aww bless Sarah your OH sound's like a trooper! He's learning ... wonder if his ears are still ringing after losing the seed box?

I know I've posted this before, but if I ever need someting to cheer me up, I just think of this verse and it sort of puts everything into perspective.

I meant to do my work today
But a brown bird sang in the apple tree
And a butterfly flitted acros the fields,
And all the leaves were calling me.

And the wind went sighing over the land
Tossing the grasses to and fro,
And a rainbow held out its shining hand -
So what could I do but laugh and go?

                  Richard LEGallienne.
I you'st to have a handle on the world .. but it BROKE!!

1 I woke up this morning, that's always good at my age.

2 The garden is tidy, the daffodil's are smiling for all to see

3 Greenhouse is full of plants.

4 The lottie is ready for planting when my plants have grown a little bit more.

5 Got my fist egg to-day, only got the girls 3 week ago.

                      Have a good week everyone.xxxxxxxxxx

But what made me happy, i moved my lovely compost and composters from my old house to my new house and the compost looks gorgeous and its mine all mine and i worked hard on that for a year, also moved my strawbs and all my greenhouse equipment, so i am v happy!

i also bought a new sofa and chair at the weekend for my new house and its all coming along swimmingly, so that has made me happy too!

Our Britian in Bloom group held a Spring Fair and Coffee Morning on Saturday - much baking and plant potting-up in the previous week or so. We raised £300 - part of which was from my packets of Heritage seeds - 'swapped' for an unspecified donation. Got £23 for them!

My daughter brought the two under-5 grand-children to see Gran on mothers' day - lovely surprise!

                            We finished the hen-run!

I got the lottie (almost) ready for planting up.

Grand life if you don't weaken eh?

I'm happy because I bought some new plants yesterday and they are looking lovely in my borders.

I'm happy because one of my sunflowers is starting to appear.

I'm happy because my stage school Theatre Cats is going well.

I'm happy because I'm getting a greenhouse soon!

                              I'm happy because I'm having curry tonight-yum!
