  • Reasons to be cheerful - today!!

Tell us your main reason to be Cheerful today For me:-
Its the shortest day, the Winter Solstice. Tomorrow there will be more daylight than today and we head towards spring and a new year in our gardens.

It has stopped raining. I'm going to the allotment for the first time in weeks to harvest some leeks, parsnips and kale. I might even get to hang my washing on the line which means it's not drying indoors which I hate.

yups, the days starting to stretch again is good grounds for optimism (unlike our weather and weather forecast). A few days to Christmas day and hopefully I'll be able to get some veggies out of the ground. Leeks, swedes and parsnips. makes all the difference having your own, Disappointed my sprout crop has been an absolute failure. Sprouts aren't even as big or fat as smarties, but unless the world ends today, there is always next year . Yayyyyyyyyy. Grounds for optimism indeedie

Didn't see any snakes today when we went to pump water, pump worked, pipes didn't explode off. Daughter had a good ride of horse. Son got seats on bus for him and his sister to go to his fathers. Not all of the seedlings put in last week died of the heat or eaten by snugs. Found the camera cord. Have a book to read tonight.

I am going to get through Christmas!

This time last month I was having the heebeegeebees about having the spare funds for pressies, food, treats etc. But we've done it, presents for children & parents and food bought, homemade gifts made for immediate family, tree up, lights working (touch wood) bills paid, and we have not reached financial meltdown or even anywhere near it.

I truly thought this Christmas was going to be a disaster but, thankfully, I was wrong.

I have had son's pressies turn up, mine has turned up, have the farm shop food to collect and some sheets to pick up for mum. It's coming together and it's the WS so from here on in it gets closer to that new seed sowing season! I haven't got time for the Mayans!

I'm going to be a Grandad for the first time next year.

We already know it will be a boy, called Jack Andrew Kenneth.

That thought alone will keep me going for a long while
