I was given a lovely little 'Gardener's pocket companion' book for Christmas and thought I'd share the occasional extract with you. This one made me smile

Green Fingers: Something everyone else seems to have plenty of
Perennial: This year, possibly; next year, unlikely
Flower bed: Anywhere a dozen or more seeds might land
Knee: A device for finding rocks in your garden
Seed Catalogue: A work of fiction with fantasy photographs
    Spade: Highly efficient back-pain generator
Weed: A good example of the 'Survival of the fittest' theory

Well there's lots of fun facts and things in there but I thought I'd see what peeps thought and add a new one from time to time if it goes down well.

Weeds - plants which, if you give them an inch, they'll take your yard.
Perennial. A plant which would have come back every year if it had survived.
