| Not mastic. It's a little waterproof plastic thingy to go over (or possibly under) the nail when you hammer the roof on. Now my brain keeps saying "washer"

| A felt roof is usually just 'nailed' with galavanised nails around the edge through latts where it's folded over so that it doesn't affect the waterproofing. Joints will be 'latted' to stop it tearing and make a waterproof seal. I've never used a sealer under latts, but I suppose a silicon sealer could be used! PS The felt will cover the nail holes but plastic wood could be used if it bothers you!

| Might be telling you to suck eggs, but just make sure you lay the piece of felt on the apex of the roof last - so it overlaps the lower layers, allowing water to run off.

| the roof is already felted, but where the guy had banged his nails in, there are holes that are bigger than the nails. I need to fill the gap.

| Go with Wayne's mastic. And yes Wayne tappets are deffo in engines. I think I know what Twosheds is on about, but you don't usually use them under nails. I've got some under the screws on my porch roof which is corrugated plastic. Like upside down saucers (tiny) - they're supposed to stop the screws splitting the roof. |
