  • Quick Slimming World Question

    Evening all

Does any of you lovely people know how many syns are in Thorntons 90gram bar of 70% dark chocolate?

I am using it as part of my mums mothers day present and trying to work out the syns for her so she can just enjoy without stressing about how naughty she is being

    thanks

I used to buy her flowers but now her fiancée buys her flowers all the time so they dont seem so special now.

But they will be from you - and what mum doesn't value that? Even better, give her some of your time - a girls evening at the cinema, just you and her, say?

We are spending all Saturday together (I cant get out of work on Sunday )
Her favourite sweet treat is Thorntons chocolate covered marzipan but when ever we go in to a Thorntons we can never find it so I have made her some. Was just going to try and work out the syns before I gave them to her

That's a lovly idea, Mumbles. I'm sure your Mum will be delighted that you've gone to so much trouble to give her something she loves.
I'm sure Slimming World allows chocolate and I'm sure your Mum will find a way to eat it

I have just got in touch with my sister who has done the Slimming World diet. She has checked her books and it says that 48g of dark chocolate is 12.5 syns. So she says a 90g bar would be counted between 20-25 syns and that's not including that marzipan.
My sister suggests a fruit basket but not a dull bore your pants off one, her words not mine. One with dragon fruit, passion fruit, lychees really the stuff you'd never think of or think I'd like to try one of those one day.

I think it depends on her attitude to her diet. It would be a bit hard to offer it to her of you know that she's taking her diet very seriously and making good progress. No-one (speaking from personal experience) wants their determination undermined, however good the intention.
It's just that what you're offering is what got her needing slimming world in the first place
If she doesn't mind putting on a kilo or 2 then offer away. I would prefer the fruit

Apparently,if you have stuck to your diet for several months,a treat would not have you pilling it on,also as both marzipan and chocolate freeze,it could be cut up and frozen for, several special moments over time, all depends on how strong will the person can be..

You're right, Lottie but the problem is that it can be the start of a very slippery slope.
