  • Question for fellow eBayers

I sold an item on the 18th July.

Then I had a message saying they could collect on Thursday 22nd, so I sent them the address and a mobile number. It was a cash on collection item.

They did not call, or turn up.

Yesterday, I sent another message, asking if they still want the item.

The buyer is not a new eBayer, and has a very good feedback rating, so I'm assuming they have internet connection problems, and am giving them the benefit of the doubt, as this happened to me in the past, and I had a negative report because of it.

So, What do you think is a reasonable length of time before I report them to eBay as a non-paying bidder?

    Difficult innit!

I bought a set of 5 demigods and sent him a message saying I was nearby about 3 days after, so could I pick up. I got nothing back. I sent another message, and nothing. Then a final 'shall we just cancel the sale as I've wasted time waiting for a response when I could have come home earlier' type messages and got a final response saying he had been working away and hadn't had t'internet...and he gave me 15 empty bottles for nothing as well as the demigods.....and excellent feedback in return.

I'd give it another few days...and then send a 'I really don't like doing this but I will have to raise a NPB report which I really hate doing, but it's the next step otherwise I lose fees' type message.

Check their feedbacks to see if they have left any inbetween your message and now....to see if they are just ignoring you or if there has been no activity....

As it's summer season and peeps are dashing off on hols, sorting out kids etc, I'd leave it a little while longer.

I'd probably leave it a few more days too.

I think ebay have guidelines for this sort of thing in their problem centre thingy or what ever they call it. Might be behind on stuff because of end of term, sports days, christmas concerts or whatever they do this time of year before the summer holidays

I would give them a bit longer too. It's annoying for you to be waiting around but, like you say, it could be an internet prob.
I would maybe send a message as suggested above, and see what happens.

          10 days?

I'm glad you're all thinking along the same lines as me. I'll leave it a bit longer.

Just a warning. probably not applicable in your case but if you let someone take away an item & pay by cash they can then claim they have not received it & if you have not got a tracking number they can claim their money back.
I posted an item & the recipient left positive feedback & then said they had not received the item
Even with the evidence of the feedback.without a tracking number they can reclaim the money.
Loads of people have been conned so beware.

How can they claim it back if they paid cash?

This is only if they pay paypal and collect...
