  • Pound Shop Bonanza!!

I dropped into my local Pound shop over the weekend and found that they have got the new season's stock of seeds and bulbs in.

I came out of there with several bags full of stuff, and not much lighter in the pocket either!

I picked up a couple of packs of onion sets - Sturon and another I can't remember (Sturrock??).

I also got a few multi-packs of seeds - one had 30 runner beans and 10 french beans, a few more had six packs of seed - including coriander, two sorts of chilli, pak choi, salad leaves and tomatoes.

For a bit of colour I got a pack of Sunflowers - including a mini propogator, compost and 15 seeds for a quid

I don't have the packs in front of me right now, but I do remember thinking that some of the packs had fewer seeds than in a standard pack, but at the end of the day a smaller quantity of more varieties suits me much better as even I can't sow and eat 1,000 carrots in a single year!

There were also loads of flower seeds, bulbs and also some seed potatoes available - I would recommend a visit to your local shop.

After all, for only a pound it is worth a try. - let us know what you buy to encourage those of us who are currently reluctant to enter a pound shop

I take it you're referring to P****land? I'm within walking distance of a P****world and they don't have all they're gardening stuff in yet. but to get to P****land I have to get a bus, which at £4.20 return kind of wipes out the savings.

I'm not near any of them - so I settle for reading the shopping lists on here and having a "Would I, wouldn't I" conversation with myself We're usually undecided

Yep, I think it's £land as £world are still trying to get rid of xmas stuff......

Yeeeeeeeees, but that's not "near" - that's in town - and I haven't been there since last summer. Its a big scarey place where they tempt you to spend money.
Anyway. imagine me struggling home on the bus laden with cloverleaf planters and a bucket load of seeds. If I take the car, the parking charges would turn a trip to Poundland into £10land.
However, there is one in Caerphilly where parking is free and is nearer!!

Can you not convince someone with a freebie bus pass to go for you?

But she'd have to drive to catch the bus?!!

Don't blame you VC, its been a very long time since I went into Cardiff, it was definitely pre John Lewis. I wonder if the £land equivalent in Crosshands (behind Leekes) has seeds in yet. Can't remember what they are called.

I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.
