  • A pottager from scratch

    More aptly tilted "Can you guess what it is yet"

    Was inspired last weekend to build a pottager/knot garden affair. Seemed like a good plan at the time It is in fact a cunning way to sneak more veg into the garden without it looking like veg beds

    As you can see from the pic it wont be completely circular due to the tree and other beds but will give the impression of a pottager, well thats the plan anyway.

    To get to the point anyone know of cheap paving here in the south? This is all being done on a shoestring. Freecycle is a bit dissapointing. As we are on the border of three counties we dont fall into any specific geographical location.

    Put a wanted ad in the local paper someone might be looking to get rid of some. We bought some from our allotment shop for 60p each and some bigger ones for £1 each. What about the tip?

        Hmm, it IS looking good.

        Can you join all 3 freecycles, it's what I did when I lived on the outskirts of Nottingham. Worked well for me

            Keep your eyes peeled for peeps getting their gardens/drives redone...tis how we've got most of our slabs.

                Well we decided to buy the circle bits from a stone supplier, (in this case concrete) We will duck and dive for the straight bits of paving but circle bits are hard to come by

                    Well its done Thyme, bronze fennel, coriander, tarragon and leeks. Assorted flowers from the border. Just going to nip ot now and get some cheapy bedding plants to brighten it up a bit.
                    Huge thanks to Mr H and my sons for all their hard work.
                    I have these bright ideas you see then remember that I have no idea how to lay slabs and stuff
