  • Post not arriving

I am waiting for some post that the person told me was in the post well over a week ago, also my son was waiting for something from the bank and on tuesday they sent another one and this arrived yesterday. Do I phone the post office and query lost post or not. I have no evidence of the one that I'm waiting for. I also think someone from here has sent an sae to me. So if anyone has sent anything to me from this site I have not recieved anything so sorry for delay in sending things back.

If the Sender didn't use 'Signed For' I honestly doubt there is anything that the PO would/could do - sadly.

However, if this is happening often (more than once is often to me!) then I would alert the PO, we hear of rouge posties sometimes (thankfully, not too often) and they would need to investigate your round.

if it was sent recorded you have to wait 15 days before they'll investigate.

we've had lots of problems with ours as well, bank statements, and not the odd 1 either,a few weeks ago,my friends a few doors up found a letter on their front,it was addressed to us,i raised stink, what you have to do is this, find out your local sorting office, and go in person, that way they cannot ignore you,but find out the times first, our 1 is approx 5am/about lunch time, you go the same place as picking up undelivered mail, ask for the manager, and keep on doing it unil the service improves,a short time after my friends found a bubblewrap onvelope on the front wall, the address was another street, the manager tolled me that the reason we have had our mail late as well, anything up 6pm,yes,is some posties have to do a second shift ,and we were on such a round, and it would be difficult to trace the person concerned, anyways,we seem to be having earlier deliveris again the last week,so do complain,i even rang our head office, and got nowhere, ask at the post office for your area sorting office and phone no,is the easiest way,if you get to see anyone take any details with you,and a pen incase you have fill a form in,bet they not got one lol,

I can confirm this is true - even if the goods are time-sensitive!

It has only happened to me twice over the past 5 years, both times containing clients passports, birth certificates, in fact everything to clone their ID with

If you're sending anything in the post & don't want to pay for recorded delivery etc. just ask for a 'proof of posting' receipt which shows that you've actually sent something at that particular time & date to a name/postcode which the P.O. counterstaff will give you. If the item doesn't arrive or arrives damaged then ask for a claim form from the P.O., if the item is below a certain value ( something like £10 I think) & you can give details of the time yoy posted it & the address where it was sent then they will normally compensate you for the value. This has happened to me in the past when items I've sent have arrived damaged & I've claimed for them. You could ask the person who's sent the item to you to claim but then that still wouldn't get back whatever they sent you. I'd definitely report it though as it's sounds as though something is going wrong with your deliveries.

We used to have to have two deliveries a day, first and second post. Now we only get the second, which often isn't delivered until after 2pm.

Odd, I ordered a CD from HMV a few weeks ago, and nothing arrived. Called them yesterday as it was 14 days since they'd despatched the CD (they tell you to wait until that point as sometimes RM can have delays according to the HMV email). Called HMV and they're sending another CD.

Someone out there must be listening to my Kings of Leon CD!!

Usually, our village posty (Robin) is pretty good, albeit he doesn't get to us until 1 in the afternoon.

Can't complain as it's usually good, and it's a darned sight better than the Italian post service.

there is no first class post anymore, even if you buy a first class stamp.
royal mail can no longer guarantee next day delivery unless you pay extra for it.

so your 'second class' delivery time is now your only delivery time, this can change depending on whether your usual postie is on holiday, as rather than employ a temp postie to do his round, another postie will do it when he has finished his.

Now i swear we have about 2 days a week in this area where we do not get any post !!!!
I have a letter every week sent the same day ect and it sometimes arrives the next day or up to 4 days later !!! and i do get a lot of mail and for me not to have any post on two days a week is very odd !!! and on those two days no one has seen a post man !

We never get any post on a Monday. Ever. It's not official, but I think the post is only part-time now.

It comes around midday, or 10am on a Saturday.

We do finally have a regular postman now, though, who is bright enough to put our parcels in the back garden when we're out. We had a different one every week at our old house. Useless.

Odd really, I have posted out seeds etc to people and they have all got them. Posted out something I bought in error for about £30, to someone for free but the postage they were sending back to me never arrived.
I am certain that the day my boat comes in, I'll be at the airport.

We've been collecting our own mail from the sorting office for the last three years because just so much of it was disappearing. A friend who lives nearby once had her bank account closed whilst she was on holiday, leaving her and her son penniless in Spain, because the postman had returned a bank statement to her bank and marked it 'Unknown at this address'. Similarly we've heard that our mail has been returned to sender with 'Gone Away', 'No Letterbox', or similar written across it. I even had a representative from the electricity board on my doorstep once asking if he knew where we'd moved to as our last bill had been returned to them with 'Moved Home' scrawled across the front. For years now all birthday/ Christmas cards for our family have had to be sent care of my mum's home as they just don't arrive here. Complaining is pointless so now we collect a week's worth of mail every Saturday morning - the sorting office is only open for a couple of hours in the morning during the week, so we can't get there every day and its really inconvenient, but at least we're reasonably assured of receiving it.
