  • Pop Bottle Build

As you may or may not know I have a thing about making useful stuff out of pop bottles and using my soldering iron for all kind of things gardening related. Recently I welded two pop bottle caps together to fix a pop bottle funnel to a pop bottle for decanting dried coffee grounds and that gave be a bright idea.

The prototype was 80% constructed and then rain stopped play, so as soon as I have some dry moments and can get in the shed I will finish it off.

In the mean time do you want to guess what it is?

OK no wind at the moment so no video, but I present to you the Mk 3 Bird Scarer in all it's glory!

I have highlighted the edge of the cut slightly so hopefully you can see the form of the blades. I will video and upload once we get some wind.

Could you wire it up to some sort of pop bottle generator to produce some sort of pop bottle electricity?
You could then use the pop bottle electricity (PBE) to electrocute slugs via copper cable nicked from the Underground?

Great Idea but I'm not that good with electric despite the soldering iron. I'm thinking we could have a bash at building a pop bottle trebuchet and have a slug tossing competition.

I'm actually going to think upon this entirely impractical idea..
                  and the slug trebuchet...

                    Ooooh! I love it!
Its a modern day whirlygig (and I do love a good whirlygig )

Now if you could incorporate a tiny little bloke on a bicycle....or chasing a chicken maybe? Perhaps BM could make one in marine ply...got to have moving arms and legs though

Got a great book on whirlygigs somewhere, now where did I put it?

Sad but true the Mk3 Bi-Blade is about to be superseded by the Mk5 Quad-Blade, version I just need to weld the node together and wait for the family to consume four more bottles of pop or fizzy water.

Still no wind in the back garden, unlike the allotment which is very open and prone to winds that blow over empty sheds see Alans Allotment: Storm Katie & Sheds

Note the Mk 4 will be a Tri-Blade version which actually could look more cool than the Mk 5, Bummox why did I crush all those darn bottles the other day!

Mk 5 Bird Scarer Node welded up and on the shelf awaiting bottles for blades, which will be screwed in then tack welded so they don't unscrew.
