My lovely little dog is poorly. She has a wheezy chest.
I feel quite mean not taking her to the vet, but I wouldn't go to the doctors with a wheezy chest myself, not for a few days anyhow. I do hope she is better soon.

You know your dog better than the vet but keep a close eye on her. Does she seem to be trying to cough up anything? My dog a few years ago had a lower repsiratory chest infection, he was wheezy, but everytime he would lay down he would try to bring up some phlegm. Can also be wheezy if they have kennel cough - which is an upper respiratory infection. Both cases need antibiotics.

Good advice, Elsie - if your dog is no better tomorrow I'd ring the vet. It could be all sorts of things, but since your dog can't explain how it feels - better safe than sorry I always say.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

You could try some meds. Vapouriser with Vicks or Friars Balsam in the room where he/she is.

If she is no better tomorrow, take her to the vets for a once over. Do let us know how she gets on.

WW, I really would get in touch with the vet tomorrow if she is still wheezey. Dogs don't generally wheeze unless something is wrong and as per previous posts from E-S and Jeanied, it usually means antibiotics of some sort.
Beau had pneumonia last year due to an attack of lung worm, which we managed to nip in the bud because I whipped him to the vets as soon as I noticed his cough.
              Please don't chance it.

A dry wheeze can be heart related. Personally, I'd get her to the vet. Hope she's OK!

Thanks for all the replies guys.
She took a turn for the worse and we got her to the vet but sadly she has passed on.
She had been with us many years and left us with lots of great memories.
                  Very sad.

I am sorry to hear your news Weekendwellies, and as Jacob says it must leave a big hole. I still can't believe I haven't got my avatar cat and I lost her last year.
