  • poorly boy, A&E made me cross

    Need a quick rant...
My littlest who is only 2 years old, has been sick since Thurdsay, lost loads of weight and can keep nothing down.
Took him to docs last night who ummed and ahhed about having him admitted to hospital. Had to go back this morning, which we did and got sent to A&E as he was worse.
(I had to go with my dad as OH got chest infection and couldn't get out of bed. Left him with my eldest who also started throwing up in the night)
Spent 4 hours in A&E with fluids being administered and cos he kept it all down they sent us home despite the fact that he'd not passed any water for over 7 hours.
When we got home, he finally passed water and there is blood in it. I phoned A&E who originally told me to go straight back if there were any developments and they said they were far too busy to have us come back - ring the out of hours docs who would pop round and have a look at his nappy.
Now, anyone who knows about out of hours service knows this is rubbish.

So I ring and luckily my local surgery was just closing so rushed him back and the doc wasn't sure if it's blood or not. So he now has a little bag thing stuck on him, and I've to take sample up in the morning. Doc was baffled as to why they had sent us home without him passing water in the first place. He said if he deteriorates over night I must go straight back to A&E and not ring them first.

Poor love is finally asleep and I have a dead arm!

    Rant over - needed that

Hope things are better when the little one's had a good sleep, it's a great healer. If not, go back to A & E and stay there until you're satisfied.

What a nightmare. I feel for you.
What kind of complete and utter eejit would discharge an ill patient who'd been pumped full of fluids with none passed?

Just goes to show... "free" healthcare... you get what you pay for.

                      I hope the youngun's ok.
