    Pond.

    Cleaned up a bit better. Still too many cattails on one side but the mower can't reach them. I want them in the shallow end.

    The last picture shows how I've mown a path around the edges of the hay fields and the pond so it's easier walking. Plan to keep it groomed this way year round.

    the fisherman in me has to ask, any fishlife? planning to add any? such a lovely bit of water just cries out for the swirl of rising fish

            Fish? Yep. Stocked it a few years ago (3?). Bass, channel catfish, bluegill, sunfish, and some grass carp to keep down the vegetation.

            I've been catching bass at least a foot long. They need a little more time to fill out their bodies and add a couple inches of length. Catfish are about right for eating. Several nice bluegill have been caught. Fish population seems healthy.

            Quite a few bullfrogs too. Plenty big enough for having frog legs for dinner. I didn't stock those. I think the birds carry in the eggs and some may have migrated from the next door neighbor's pond. Not sure.

                      Seeing these photos of your wee lochans put me in mind of a story I heard about the old retired farmer who had wee loch not far from his house and between the loch and the house he had an orchard, so one fine summers day he picked up pail and told his wife he was going to pick some fruit, walking down to the orchard he heard some young women laughing and went to see what they were doing, they were skinny dipping in his loch, and when they saw him the sank into the water up to their necks and told him to go away, to which he replied, away yea go I'm no doon here are luck at lasses without owny clothes, holding up his pail, I'm doon tea feed ma pet alligator

                        rary,

                        I have no intention of offending you but over the weekend I heard a Scotsman talking about the Scots and it made me wonder about your avatar. Based upon what he said in your avatar it appears your arms are much too long and your pockets are much too shallow. Was he correct? (Just kidding of course. )

                          The avatar is actually quite accurate, my pockets are empty, dont you know that if you carry money in your pockets you could drop it, why only five years ago I dropped a 5 pence piece on the road out side my house and I still haven't found it, plus if folks think you have money in your pocket they want you to spend it, just wait and see what they are like when the Gardeners Rest opens in December I'm sure they are lining up to get me to spend something
