I don't like the new layout. Ads at the side squishes everything up and when you scroll down all you have is a lot of empty white space at the right hand of the screen.

if it makes the Vine quicker, it's OK with me ... I remember everyone moaning when the ads were first put at the top of the page

Now you know why we were asked about a wider screen width.
RL you forgot one option for the poll - remove all adds - thats what I'd vote for.There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore and who always will. It might be so that they can fit more adverts in? In theory I don't mind it, but in practice... I reeeeally loathe it I'm on a Netbook, so the screen is already teeny, with this change I'm now down to a 14cm wide bit of text, it's not good...

Doesn't bother me. They need the ads, this forum most likely doesn't run for free. This gives them scope to add more ads down the side as they come.
And it is noticeably faster.
I must say that the Fentongollan one is annoying though. I hate flashing, animated ads. They're very distracting when you're trying to read them. Then again I notice if I minimise my browser I still get the full width forum but can't see the ads
