  • Please no more free bulbs!

Don't panic, I mean the low energy types sent out with too much regularity by the energy companies. Another box arrived today. I probably have enough to light the house for the next 50 years plus - and yes they are in every available socket.

Still I suppose on the plus side I haven't bought any of them......

I was reading about this the other day.
Apparently they are the cheapest way for energy companies to meet their environmental criteria: ironic really, as most of them are ending up in landfill

I got another box the other day, I wish they would stop wasting money on them and do something for the environment or heaven forbid lower their prices

We didnt get any from our energy companies - had to buy them from the shop. Mind you, I asked the water company for acouple of those things you put in the toilet system to save water, and never got them...

              Oh yes you have.

As TS says, this government has basically forced the companies to send them out and they legally add the cost to your bill.

But, just like the MP expenses, the companies do not need to tell you and they can hide the price you are paying for each bulb so it is not evident on your bill.

I have loads too, but they are all 'warm light'. I have just bought some daylight bulbs for the living room, they are great. DD wants one for the main light in her room, she says she will be able to concentrate better in 'proper' light.
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

i still get ones for the woman who used to live here 5 years ago, as well as my own ... and they don't fit in most of my light fittings, i have given most away to people who haven't got the free bulbs.

they shouldn't even be going into landfill, as they contain mercury, which they spent years eradicating from thermometers etc ...
