  • Plant Identification App

Has anyone used the leafsnap iPhone/iPad application yet for plant identification ? Unfortunately I have an Android phone so can't try the app yet, however there is an Android version under development.

I've just downloaded it for a look. Seems like a brilliant idea (take a pic of a mystery plant, upload it and recieve an i.d. from their database). However, it's a bit clunky and very American based at the moment. I would imagine it will improve and expand in time though.

It's also free! So if you have a device that supports it, it has to be worth a go

The numbers of species are very low - didn't even have Elder in there. Give it a year and maybe they will have populated it enough to use. All US trees as well, so it would need UK population to be of use.
