All this talk of these 'oldie' kids programs has got me thinking again!!!.

When my kids where young, but can't remember exactly which one of the three it would have been particularly. There was a black and white cartoon, sure it was on BBC2, that featured a moon type landscape and 'helmet' men (i say men, as it seemed to be an 'army'). As far as i can remember the 'squaddies' were black helmets and the 'officer' was white. The only other program i can remember being on at the same time is Pigeon Street, and maybe Mr Benn.

This proggie has been haunting me on and off for years, so i'm hoping someone on here might have seen it, remember it. I was in Doncaster, watching it. I say this as I keep talking about not being 'Twizzle' when OH wants me to get something that is just out of reach for my slight stature, and i forget he doesn't know what i'm talking about, reckons he never saw the program as a kid.

Am hoping some one can help me out with the helmet program. No i'm not getting it mixed up with the 'Helmets' in Spaceballs, but but if you can imagine those without bodies and short legs, you'll have the perfect picture of the ones i'm on about.

The only thing I can remember with a planet was 'The Clangers' (that was my obsession before Pingu). That was originally in black and white, but changedto colour, and the clangers were little pinky orange knitted things, and there was a dragon 'The Soup Dragon.' Narrated, I believe by the same fella as ? Postgate who also did 'Ifor the Engine' (Dunno why I remember such cr*p!).

As for the rest of your description, it sounds like 'Michael Bentine's Potty Time,' also excellent.

I think you'll find the Clangers lived on a 'small blue planet'...

The Small Blue Planet, the Earth, Heavenly Bodies, the Firmament and the Universe
To see a world in a grain of sand
And a heaven in a wild flower
