  • Pick me a job

Ok, so for the short term I'm no longer a marketing manager - what else could I be?

Here's your opportunity to mould a new Wayne.

What job could I/should I do?

What parts of your old job did you like / dislike? Always a good start then you can target something that picks up the good bits but avoids the bad.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I have no idea what would suit you best but agree with Alison...pinpoint the things you've enjoyed in your previous job(s) and go from there.

I hear that the Youth Hostels association are looking for a marketing manager. They have mostly lost touch with their original, simple aims, and don't seem to know what to do now

Hmmm....a marketing manager that can't sell himself?

get a list going of pros and cons of the job you are in, and also your personality, and what you think are your strenghts and weaknesses. also visualize the sort of life you want to be living in five years time, and also the sort of job you think you would like to do and then between the options , work out a plan of how to get there. do a list of your transferable skills, and each time you think something like 'i cant do that', or 'that wont work', ask why, and keep asking why til you reach the root of the matter.
