  • Petition - stop people moaning about music noise after buying property

There was a story about some people who moved into a flat in Manchester above a music venue who complained about the noise, putting a brilliant venue at risk!

Introduce mandatory noise complaint waivers for anyone who buys or rents a property within close distance of a music venue

A couple of years ago people who had bought very expensive flats on the sea front as holiday homes at Wells Next The Sea in Norfolk complained bitterly to the council that something had to be done about the noise of the seagulls as it was disturbing their peace. Hey Ho!

Just like the ones who move to a village in the country and complain about the church bells

There are many csaes of peopkle moving out to a village then complaining about the church bells that have been there for hundreds of years. And some have even got them stopped.

At times it is a case of "Why did you move there? "

The ones in Mildenhall that complain about the dog track and planes (raf). Ummm, they were there when you bought it they are nothing new. Annoyingly, they did actually win a case against the dog track

Save Mildenhall Stadium and give rights to existing activities with planning permission and local residents

Remember hearing about a couple who moved to the country and complained to the local farmer about the noise his cows made.
Some people want to move to the country for the 'country life' but don't want the noises or smells.

Or the couple that moved to the country and made a formal complaint about their young daughter being able to see the bull servicing his cows in the field.

Or the monsters who moved next to Paignton zoo, then complained when the peacocks flew into their garden! So the zoo culled the peacocks as they couldn't afford a law suit! :'( some people need culling.

I may be wrong, but isn't there something already there as a warning when buying property?....." Let the buyer beware"

Ha, that reminds me....when my boys were little I picked them from primary school and just as I pulled off one of the boys said "when I'm older and I want a baby, do I just jump on?"
I had to pull in on a lay by and explain that people weren't like chickens and when it was time to start a family it was best to ask the lady first.

There is sort of.. and you do have to ask yourself what sort of idiot would buy a flat above a street full of bars and not expect it to be really noisy at night.
Clubs have had sound proofing enforced on them at great expense and when it doesn't work, because it's not 100% going to, they get shut down.

When i as farming out village was being taken over by proffesional people (doctors solicitors etc.) who wanted to enjoy the countryside and all it had to offer. (Our loacal children had to move to the towns because they couldnt compete with the house prices).
Every year around August we seperated the lambs for their mothers, they blarted all through the night calling to each other, sad but essential. I had a telephone call at 1 am from an irate bank managers wife complaining about the bloody noise. I was not amused at being woken from my bed so i suggested they move back to Birminghan where they belong.

I live nearish Raven's Ait on the Thames. Not long after I moved it they were granted a licence for weddings. I quite like the wedding fireworks (you can almost tell which 'package' the happy couple bought) but was less happy about the tragic '80s selections booming out at 11.30pm every Saturday night. Sound REALLY carries across the water. Club Tropicana hasn't aged well.

Thankfully other people who live closer were more irate and the venue's decibel limit was reduced. Some things you don't really expect.
