Default Penine Kitchen & Garden

Just wondered if anyone else has bought these videos/DVD's of a Penine Kitchen & Garden and wondered what they think of them. I ordered mine through GYo mag and have quite enjoyed Jan & Febs & looking forward to March. The couple that have this estate and have filmed themselves working in their very large greenhouse and in their kitchen both have full time jobs (no children) and are very dedicated to growing thier own and all that it involves. They have some good gadgets and ideas. Just wondered what fellow grapes think of it if they have it or perhaps would like to borrow from me.

Hi Weavie
We are still trying to watch the Victorian Kitchen Garden. Got it for my birthday and weve only seen two episodes so far (part of the problem is all the football/sport that's been on lately!)

Have you seen Steve Partidge's blog? It's nearly as good I'm sure.

Hi Madderbat
Yes, I have been following Steve P's blog which, as you say, is really good. Funny you should say about the Victorian garden. It was because I had finally finished viewing same that I ordered the Penine Kitchen & Garden. I know what you mean about getting time though. I put the dvd in my laptop and sneak upstairs with it when O/H is watching th golf with both eyes closed (but he's not asleep you understand) and when children fast asleep. It's worth catching and as the year progresses I'm sure it will get more interesting.

I have the Victorian Kitchen garden on DVD but must confess I have never heard of the Penine kitchen and garden!
Excuse my ignorance but what is Penine? Is it a persons name? Can you elaborate a bit?

Basically it's a couple who have an estate in Yorkshire. They have recorded how they prepare the land, planting in the greenhouse and orchards and gardens. It's all about sowing, growing, harvesting and coooking what they grow. They both have full time jobs and they do their gardening in the evenings and at weekends. It got off to a bit of a slow start in January, but Febs is better. Each DVD lasts 3 hours so it's not bad value for £10.00. I've enjoyed the first two and I'll be interested to know what PW thinks when he's seen it. By the way, think Pennine is the place in Yorkshire but can't be sure.
I really enjoyed the Victorian Kitchen garden too. Would love to grow those peas!

Thought you would know where the Pennines are Snadger! Have a look on a map and the big hills between Lancashire and Yorkshire are called, um, er - the Pennines! LOL! (Haven't checked, presumably that's where this series is set?) Bernie aka Dexterdog

Hi guys - Weavie here (female by the way) well I was the last time I looked. Got the spelling from the DVD cover so should be right. PW should have the DVD's by the morning so hope he'll enjoy them. Each programme is 3 hours long though so def. need to be multi-tasking while watching. I got through piles of ironing! Put creases in all the wrong places as wasn't looking at what I was doing. I'll be amazed if I'm the only one on the vine that has ordered these DVD's. I also watched The Victorian garden - found it v. interesting. Did you guys think the presenter sounded like Alan Wicker?
