    A peacock?

    I've just been out to corn my girls and out of the corner of my eye saw what at first glance thought was a pheasant flying over. At a second glance(and I didn't get much more than that) I realised it was too big, too elegant and the tail was far, far too long.
    A pheasant flies with a "panicky" movement, this bird flapped much more slowly.
    I've never seen a peacock fly, indeed, didn't know they could, at least not for distances so what else could it have been?

      Wild peacocks fly well enough! Go by the colour, that semi-metallic blue should stick in the mind nicely. There are other kinds of pheasants than the familar one, some are longer tailed than the one we all know. It would have to have escaped from a zoo-ish place, either way.
      Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

          It certainly wasn't a pheasant, the tail was much longer than the bird, almost twice as long. As to colour, I was looking through snow so only saw the shape. I will look out for ads. for lost peacocks, pheasants and tera- thingys

                We had a peacock in the garden a few years ago when we lived in a town. Lovely and friendly. Spent the night in a greenhouse whilst we tried to find where it had come from, which we couldn't. RSPCA didn't want it as it wasn't injured. In the end we took it to an old boy who had a few and said he wouldn't mind another.

                It was only when we had the sheep in the back garden a few weeks later we found out whom it belonged to....
