  • To paraphrase slightly.....

The northern carmine bee eater has landed. Well, I didnt feel I was able to afford myself Eagle status.
After a 4 week whirlwind of near death (man flu) Cholera (well, D+V and a tummy ache) a broken foot, a lost finger nail and some other more pleasant stuff, I find myself back in the sunny hinterland of Sudan.
It hasnt changed much in my absence, the cow is still king, the food is still dreadful and its rather hot (in every sense). It hasnt helped that the president is about to be indicted for war crimes either, should warm it up some more.
On the plus side, during my trip to the uk I heard the wonderful news that I am to be a granddad for the third time. The familiar little tear appeared once again in the corner of my eye. My son this time, although I'm a touch unsure how it happened, as he isnt even married!!!
SBP prepare for more dodgy photo's of birds to be identified, although the Secret Santa pressie will help me I know.
Only 27 more days and I shall be back home, but they will be loooooong days.
