I can't follow the instructions at all, have tried numerous times. Also got mk1 son to try as he was into origami for a while - he had no luck either. Hope things are looking up for you Headfry.

Thank you for your kind words, it helps more than you know.
Still cant do the pots though, I too made loads last year, but can't seem to get it right now. I think some where I should turn the paper or fold it another way as the pot bit is not right at all.

Hello Headfry and big hugs to you

I've had a go and managed to get to step 11 but can't get any further. One thing I was doing wrong in the first place was having the paper in portrait mode instead of landscape (if you see what I mean) Notice how the article says:
2. Rip the paper in half, like in the picture. Then turn one piece so the long side is facing you. (I didn't show that step.)

Don't know if it helps at all because I still can't get past step 11

Have fun!

Followed the instructions? I don't know, it just worked this time - never has before so I don't know what was different.

At step 11 the picture makes it look as though both 'tops' are folded to one side - you should fold each side back on itself (if that makes any sense) then it kind of opens into a pot with a pointy bottom, if you stick your hand inside and wiggle about a bit, the bottom flattens out.

I can't help with the box method (proper origami) but the ones I make are dead easy. Take a tumbler style glass or cardboard tube like a kitchen roll. Take a strip of paper about three centimetres wider than you want the pot to be high and about 50cm long (width of newspaper etc). Roll the strip round the tube several times making sure it sticks off the end. Roughly fold the ends into the tube which makes a good enough base. Dead easy and done in minutes. Choose a different size tube/glass etc for different seeds.

I'm stuck at 11 too, can't fold the sides down without making a cut.
