Ive jut been offered an allotment...yay i hear you say.
    Nope!
ive just accepted a job in the south west and dont think its fair that i accept an allotment when i might only be on the site Until August, i have to do the right thing and pass it on to someone who could have it for much longer......
    Never mind.....

Ah what a shame! Will you be able to get on the list when you move?

I feel your pain. We signed up for the village allotments when we moved here last year and was told the waiting list was 2 years +. So we put raised beds in the house, finished them 2 weeks ago and got offered an allotment this week. We debated it for 24 hours but realised, we couldn't properly tend to both and work full time and remain sane.

You could ask if the plot could be made into a half plot?, I have a number of raised beds in the garden, and some chickens coming soon, a full 300sqm allotment a full time job normally 60hrs plus, a young family, and my OH doesn't garden.

I won't deny its easy, it is always a battle between where you spend your time but it is possible, and a lot of secretary's will happily split a plot as it takes two of you off the waiting list. Half full glass, JOJO.

I'm normally on the allotment between 6.30 and 9.30 sat & sun, and a few 1 hour stints as and when I can fit them in during the evenings to weed and water. This way my family don't lose out on my time. Wintertime the plot has downtime, I concentrate on diy then.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.
