  • Open Golf Sandwich Kent

    Hi Everyone,

    I have had a late invitation to the open golf in Kent.

    Are there any grapes down there who can recommend a B&B. I appreciate it will be busy because of the golf but a bit of inside knowledge is always useful.

    Hope you don't mind me asking....its a long way from the Wirral!!!!

    Loving my allotment!

      Ohh that will be various parts of the anatomy in Sandwich,assuming you are taking a car your best bets are either Canterbury,Deal or most likely Ramsgate for a room at a reasonable price

        I'm going to the final days play on Sunday (**PB looks smug**)
        I've been trying to find accomodation for one of our clients, and things are few and far between, and very expensive. I managed to find him something on Laterooms.com, in Ashford (so that he can travel down with the rest of us by minibus), but he said that even the caravanpark at Camber Sands wanted £110 for one night!!
        I wish you luck, and hope you find something Newton.

            I am going to the Open on Friday, and looked for hotels, B & B but nothing available. I tried LastMinute.com, Expedia, Laterooms.com.

            Try a London Hotel/B&B (with parking) and go by train to Sandwich ?
            I know what I said, and I know you believe you understand what you think I said, but I am not sure you realise that what you heard is not what I meant

                  Or cough loudly!

                  I'm a bit worried I don't know the difference between a Birdie and an Eagle...They've both got feathers...

                  Which day are you going?

                    Birdie = 1 under par
                    Eagle = 2 under par
                    Albatross = 3 under par
                    Par being the allotted amount of whacks (technical term) for each hole.

                    A chip is a greenside shot NOT an edible delight

                    Any one hitting left then right is playing "military golf"

                    Newton was being polite,don't shout .......BELLOW ... & if you can time it to the top of the backswing so much the better.

                    I am fairly sure that cameras are banned (press & TV only)

                      mobile phones are banned from the course too as well as cameras. don't know what you're supposed to do with it while you're there though.

                      "Kent Police has reminded visitors not to leave valuables in their cars and that mobile phones and cameras are not allowed on the course."

                        So if the police are telling people cameras & mobile phones are not allowed on the course,does that mean it is actually a civil/criminal offense ?

                          prob be searched on the way in so you can't take them in and if found using one will get booted and prob have the police asking to see what footage you have and as it was illegal to have it there prob delete it/confiscate the phone, which opens up a load of possibilities for lawsuits but if they are not allowed then why take the chance tbh?

                            Stunning performance from Tom Lewis. Brilliant tweet from BBC golf commentater:

                            I dislike the way we overhype and put too much pressure on young talents in golf, but I'm pretty sure Tom Lewis will win 37 majors.

                            Made I chuckle anyway.

                              Sorry, I too think it's a good walk spoilt. Himself, however, follows every bladdy tournament that's on the tellybox. Hope you have a wonderful time.
